becoming a werewolf

summary

There are 4 different ways to become a Werewolf.

1) Hereditary

It's a 99% chance of a werewolf gene being passed down to a child. Werewolves giving birth to humans is extremely rare, and a werewolf being born from two humans is nearly impossible.

2) The ritual

Another way to become a werewolf is by performing a ritual. Under the light of a full moon, the person must burn a section of grass in the shape of 2 circles linked together (this is symbolism for Sun and Luna). Stones must be placed around the area burned. Then, mountain ash and wolfsbane must be laid in the middle of the circle, and the werewolf-to-be must lie upon it naked. Next, pieces of silver must be staked through their hands and into the ground. Then they must be doused in salt water. Lastly, a seance must be chanted by at least one werewolf. The strength and vigor of the werewolf performing the seance are what a successful ritual depends on. After all the steps have been taken, the light of the moon will take its effect. They will begin to transition, and after transforming they must kill their first human as a sacrifice to finish the transformation, if they don’t they die.

3) The resurrection

To resurrect a dead body, they must be brought back as a werewolf or already be one. Resurrection (also called rebirth) can only be accessed and done through black magic. To do so, an original werewolf must be killed while in their animal form. The animal carcass must be laid next to the carcass of the person to be resurrected. They must both be sprinkled in Hempus and each other’s blood. Some kind of object strongly connecting to the one to be resurrected must be used so the spirit can use it as a link. Whether this is a sentimental piece of jewelry or a picture, it cannot simply be an old shirt they wore. They burn that object. Then with the help of a damned spirit, the spirit will link the object to the body. Next, it will take the soul from the sacrificed werewolf, and harvest it – basically eating it. They will convert the energy from the burned object and the dead werewolf into a new soul and place it back into the human. The spell is complete.

Limitations

  • Sometimes human traits or memories disappear with their old soul. The loss may happen either immediately after the resurrection or slowly deteriorate over time. This is called fugue.

  • A human or naturally born werewolf will freeze in the appearance at the age they are resurrected. If one has aged all the way to 18, dies, and is resurrected, they will not look any older than 18. This is why it is dangerous to resurrect children or teenagers because their appearance and mentality will never change.

  • People who have died of old age cannot be resurrected.

  • Resurrecting a fetus does not freeze the age if they have not developed a body yet. Under 3 weeks there is a time period where resurrection is possible. However, when it reaches about 3 weeks and it dies or is miscarried, a resurrection will not work for its body will not be able to continue to grow.

  • Making a link or contacting a damned spirit will force you to lose contact with any positive spirits. This is why Spirit Wolves won’t do resurrections. Whoever is resurrected will undergo the same.

  • If you are sacrificed for a resurrection you cannot be brought back with another resurrection. You only have one chance to live again.

  • You cannot resurrect a person who has been burned to death or eviscerated. The body must remain in somewhat good shape  in order to be resurrected

4) The bestowal

The most uncommon way to transform into a werewolf is to get a Spirit Wolf so wise they may simply bestow it. This was known only to be done by the most prestigious and intelligent Spirit Wolves. Supposedly, from the inside, one can harvest the energy within themselves and project it onto another person. The science within it is yet to be explained in detail, for the whole process is on the verge of unfathomable.
