formal terms

 

werewolvism

Noun

Definition: Possessing Werewolf abilities and genes.

 

Example:

 

  • "He was aware of his Werewolvism at a young age."

 

Pup

Noun 

Definition: A young Werewolf.

 

Synonyms: Puppy, newborn.

 

Example:

 

  • "You're merely a pup, you cannot go hunting just yet."

 

Upstart reaction phase

Noun

Definition: The beginning of the transition into a Werewolf. Or the beginning of a Werewolf's life where one specific emotional trait is exaggerated greatly in response to increased adrenaline and endorphins. This emphasizes hormones in females or testosterone in males. If someone has angry emotional tendencies, their emotions during the early stages of Werewolvism will be severely more wrathful. If someone has sad emotional tendencies, their emotions during the early stages of Werewolvism will be severely more depressed, and so forth. 

 

Synonyms: Overstate, Neophyte Reaction Phase, URP. 

 

Example:

 

  • "Experiencing your Upstart Reaction Phase is not an excuse for this kind of behavior!" 

 

Suppression

Noun / Verb 

Definition: When someone's Werewolvism lies dormant in their genetic makeup and does not become apparent until years later in their life. This can also be caused by intense denial where one refuses to use their Werewolf abilities.

 

Example:

 

  • "Some believe that suppression is the only way to lead a normal life."

 

  • "She didn't discover her abilities until she was a teenager for her Werewolvism had been suppressed as a child."

 

  • "He refrained from Transforming to suppress his Werewolvism."

 

Mark

Noun / Verb

Definition: When a Werewolf's heart is eternally committed to another person. This sensation is experienced when a Werewolf finds their Soul Mate - either with or against their own will. Marking is not a choice. A Mark can happen instantly when meeting someone or may even take years to develop. After that moment of realization, the Werewolf who has placed the Mark will sacrifice everything if necessary to protect who they have marked. Their sole purpose is to devote their lives to their marked person. A Mark does not escape death, for it will stay permanent beyond the grave.

 

Example:

 

  • "I placed a Mark on you many decades ago."

 

  • "Have you ever marked someone before?"

 

  • "Marking is a sign of eternal devotion."

 

Soul Mate

Noun

Definition: Someone who a Werewolf has marked. This may or may not be their assigned mate. 

 

Example:

 

  • "He knew that she was his Soul Mate." 

 

mate

Noun

Definition: Two Werewolves within the same pack that are assigned as partners by their Alpha. This relationship is monogamous and committed for as long as they remain Mates. 

 

Example:

 

  • "The Alpha had assigned her to be his Mate."

 

Mating ceremony 

Noun

Definition: This is a sacred event where two mates are formally united. The pack celebrates and offers gifts to the new couple.

 

Example:

 

  • "A Mating Ceremony is a Werewolf's version of a wedding."

 

Mating

Verb

Definition: The action of two Werewolves coming together to breed.

 

Synonyms:  Breeding, reproducing, procreating.

 

Example:

 

  • "They were mating last night for they wish to have a child."

Copulation 

Noun / Verb

Definition: When two Mates have sexual intercourse.

 

Example:

 

  • "Male Werewolves seek copulation with female Werewolves during Breeding Season.

 

  • "They were copulating last night to celebrate their Mating Ceremony."

 

 

Fornication

Noun / Verb 

Definition: Having sexual intercourse with someone who is not their mate. This can result in banishment from the pack.

 

Synonyms: Infidelity, adultery, affair, cheating. 

 

Example:

 

  • "The Pack Law is to not indulge in fornication."

 

  • "She was banished last week for fornicating with another pack member."

 

Pack law

Noun

Definition: The system of rules within a particular pack that regulates the actions of its pack members. These rules are often very traditional and are formed by the Alpha. Transgression will result in the Alpha enforcing punishment or banishment. 

 

Example:

 

  • "The penalty of breaking Pack Law is 2 months of house arrest." 

 

rejection

Noun / Verb 

Definition: When a Werewolf is not allowed to join the pack.

 

Example:

 

  • "It feels terrible for a Werewolf to experience rejection." 

 

  • "He was rejected for he had a notorious reputation." 

 

Fugue

Noun

Definition: The loss of memories or traits after a resurrection.

 

Synonyms: Amnesia.

 

Example:

 

  • "She cannot remember how to speak Spanish after the fugue."

trigger

Noun / Verb 

Definition: An occurrence that provokes a Werewolf. When an Upstart Reaction Phase is triggered, a  Werewolf's emotions will intensify. When a Transformation is triggered, a Werewolf will Transform. When a Spellbinding is triggered, a Werewolf will comply with the reason it was placed by responding to a situation in a particular manner.

 

Example:

 

  • "His Upstart Reaction Phase was triggered by the sad movie and now he can't stop crying."

 

 

  • "The woman's Spellbinding was triggered by his presence, therefore she slapped her best friend."

prey

Noun

Definition: A human or animal that a Werewolf hunts and consumes.

 

Example:

 

  • "He locked eyes with his prey before he pounced."

Hunger

Noun

Definition: An intense need to consume prey. This urge is stronger than thirst. Satisfying hunger is a key factor of accommodating with Werewolvism. Neglect of proper feeding can lead to many symptoms such as:

 

  • Nausea

  • Mood swings

  • Irritability

  • Lethargy

  • Death

  • "The voracious hunger had grown within the last few days."

thirst 

Noun

Definition: A need to consume the blood of prey. This urge is not as strong as hunger. Satisfying thirst is another key factor of accommodating with Werewolvism. Neglect of quenching thirst can lead to many symptoms such as: 

 

  • A tightening of the throat 

  • Salvation 

  • Headaches

  • Anxiety

  • "The sight of blood stimulated his thirst."

BloodLust

Noun

Definition: A thirst for someone's blood beyond the usual craving intensity. This is a very sexual sensation caused by attraction to possible prey. Symptoms of Bloodlust include but are not limited to:

 

  • A tightening of the throat

  • Salvation

  • Dilated pupils

  • Ecstasy

  • Sexual arousal 

 

Example: 

 

  • "His Bloodlust for the beautiful woman caused him to get an erection."

feed

Verb 

Definition: When Werewolves consume their prey.  

 

Synonyms: Eat, drink, consume. 

 

Example:

 

  • "He felt the urge to feed."

 

  • "Feeding always made him feel better after a stressful day."

feeding Frenzy

Noun

Definition: An unquenchable thirst for blood. A frenzy occurs often in pups who are awakened to their new cravings. This incites the incessant urge to hunt in order to sate their hunger.

 

Synonyms: Frenzy, devour, gorge. 

 

Example:

 

  • "20 people were killed after his feeding frenzy."

mealtime

Noun 

Definition: The specific time of the day when the pack enjoys dinner. The Hunter of the pack and the troop pursue their prey, then bring it back to the pack to eat. The pack may only consume the food brought back. Any hunting outside of mealtime can be punished by banishment. This is to maintain eating habits and prevent mass murders.

 

Synonyms: Frenzy, devour, gorge. 

 

Example:

 

  • "You will suffer the consequences of eating outside of mealtime."

perish

Verb 

Definition: To die of starvation. However, when a Werewolf perishes, it is very different from death. They will simply weaken until their body collapses and dries up. A Werewolf will naturally embalm and fall into a comatose state. If a Werewolf that has perished is fed an abundant amount of blood, they will come back to life.

  • "His father was tortured and starved before he finally perished."

Grooming

Verb

Definition: When a Werewolf licks their fur clean. This can also be done between mates or family as a sign of nurturing.

 

Example: 

 

  • "She groomed herself after eating."

 

hunting season

Noun

Definition: A time for humans where it is legal to hunt a particular species of animal. Werewolves take caution when in the wilderness. 

 

Example: 

 

  • "Be careful out there, it's hunting season."

 

hunting

Verb

Definition: When a Werewolf hunts for prey.

 

Example: 

 

  • "She went hunting to blow off steam."

 

troop

Noun

Definition: The group organized by the Hunter that accompanies the hunting journey.

 

Example: 

 

  • "Round up the troop before you leave."

 

howling

Verb

Definition: The noise Werewolves make to call forth their fellow pack members. This is a signal set out to congregate Werewolves even hundreds of miles away. Howling can also be used to repel intruders and establish territory.

Noun

Definition: An area of land under the jurisdiction of a certain pack.

  

Example:

Noun

Definition: An uncommon term for Werewolf. 

 

Example: 

 

  • "Shapeshifters are not welcome here."

 

Dearth

Noun

Definition: A human born from two Werewolves or a Werewolf born from two humans.

 

Example:

 

  • "He was a pariah in his pack, for he was a Dearth."

runt 

Noun

Definition: The smallest or weakest pack member.

 

Example:

 

  • "He's the runt of the litter."

 

puppy love

Noun

Definition: An intense yet relatively shallow romantic attachment, typically associated with adolescent Werewolves. It is assumed that the Upstart Reaction Phase effects Werewolves' hormones. Hence why they think they are in love.

 

Example:

 

  • "She's not your Soul Mate, you're just experiencing puppy love."

 

sheep

Noun

Definition: A slur that refers to a Werewolf who is a coward.

 

Example:

 

  • "You're a sheep if you don't want to fight against the enemy."

 

Wolf up

Verb

Definition: A term meaning "suit up" or "man up".

 

Example:

 

  • "Stop being a sheep and wolf up!" 

 

Sheep in wolf's clothing

Noun

Definition: A Werewolf who's demeanor is a facade for who they truly are. Often because Werewolves are expected to be ruthless. This may lead them to deceive others in regards to their true innocence. 

 

Example:

 

  • "If you start crying then we will all know you are a Wolf in sheep's clothing."

 

Mutt

Noun

Definition: A derogatory term for a Werewolf.

 

Synonyms: Dog, mongrel. 

 

Example:

 

  • "Get this mutt out of my house!" 

 

Dead meat

Noun

Definition: When someone is in serious trouble. The term can also be used ironically towards prey.

 

Example:

 

  • "He knew that by breaking Pack Law he was dead meat." 

 

top dog

Noun

Definition: Typically used as a reference to the Alpha. However, the term can also be used to describe anyone in the pack with superior strength.

 

Example:

 

  • "After winning one pack scrap you think you're the top dog."

 

pack scrap

Noun

Definition: When 2 members of a pack brawl for dominance. Typically, the winner is rewarded with pride, respect and the right to override a decision made by their opponent. This brawl is usually all in good fun. However, it can partake in more serious matters.

 

Example:

 

  • "After his pack scrap victory, he ordered everyone to clean the house."

 

Digging

Verb

Definition: A very uncivil act where a Werewolf digs in the dirt. This is seen as immature and bad-mannered.

 

Example:

 

  • "Please don't tell anyone that you caught me digging in the yard last night."

 

Flipping hair

Verb

Definition: When a woman flips her hair to arouse a Werewolf. By exposing her neck, a Werewolf is tempted to feed on her. 

 

Synonyms: Flipping, flirting, teasing.

 

Example:

 

  • "His thirst intensified when the woman flipped her hair."

Feeder’s Carousel 

Noun

Definition: When a human has multiple Werewolves feeding off them at once.

 

Synonyms: Blood threesome, blood orgy.

 

Example: 

 

  • "Do you want to join the feeder's carousel?"

fangblock

Noun

Definition: When someone becomes an obstacle between a Werewolf and their company. Typically, during feeding. 

 

Example:

 

  • "I'm in the middle of drinking from this girl, don't be such a fangblock!"

Gore whore 

Noun

Definition: A female Werewolf who loves to overindulge when feeding.

 

Example:

 

  • "You ate 3 people today you gore whore!"

Blood Doll

Noun

Definition: A human who allows Werewolves to drink their blood to seem cool. And/or a human who has the desire to be fed on in return for sexual gratification.

 

Synonyms: Blood Whore, Blood Puppet, Drainer's Doll, Poser. 

 

Example:

 

  • "I know you don't truly love him, you're simply his new Blood Doll."

ecstasy 

Noun

Definition: The intense euphoria and arousal someone experiences while being fed on after becoming adjusted to the pain.

 

Synonyms: Blood Orgasm.

 

Example:

 

  • "As he drank her blood, she had experienced ecstasy for the first time."

rezzy

Noun

Definition: A demeaning term for a Werewolf that has been resurrected.

 

Synonyms: Zombie, Living Corpse, Undead.

 

Example:

 

  • "I would never want to be mates with a rezzy!"

stalking

Verb

Definition: When a Werewolf closely follows their prey, usually because the Werewolf is a picky eater.

 

Example:

 

  • "I was stalking her for 3 days before I moved in for the kill."

 

Razors

Noun

Definition: A term for when a Werewolf has large fangs. Within the Werewolf community, fangs are seen as a sign of masculinity. The larger and longer they are, the more attractive they are to females. In the past, Werewolves with bigger fangs were elected the Hunter of the pack. It was thought they were to have more success at providing food for their mates and pack members. However, over time fangs became particularly more about sex appeal.

 

Example:

 

  • "I find your razors to be quite arousing."

 

Wine

Noun

Definition: A personal joke between Werewolves who drink blood in a glass and call it “wine”. This is because of the similar color.

 

Example:

 

  • "Would you like a glass of wine?"

 

kitten

Noun

Definition: A derogatory term for a female Werewolf. Because Werewolves are canines, it is common knowledge they don't get acquainted well with felines. The common conception for felines is that they are high-maintenance and hostile.

 

Example:

 

  • "Nobody asked for your opinion, kitten."

 

packtriotic

Adjective

Definition: Having or expressing devotion or vigorous support and loyalty for one's pack.

 

Example:

 

  • "You're willing to die for them? How very packtriotic of you." 

 

oh my moons!

Expression

Definition: An alternate phrase for "oh my god!" Werewolves are slaves to the moon and therefore see it as their version of a higher power.

  • "Oh my moons! Are you okay?"

Running

Verb

Definition: A physical activity where Werewolves go running in Wolf form. This is a common form of exercise common among Werewolves. This is also a typical way for them to blow off steam.

 

Example:

 

  • "Since I had such a terrible day, I think I need to go running."

 

Mouthwash fangs

Noun

Definition: During the beginning of a Werewolf's life, the teeth are very sensitive while their fangs are growing. It's similar to the sensation of cold water on your teeth after having something very minty.

 

Example:

 

  • "The pup has mouthwash fangs, she doesn't want to eat anything."
