Mates and reproduction

mates

Mates are two Werewolves within the same Pack that are assigned as partners by their Alpha. This relationship is monogamous and committed for as long as they remain Mates.

mating ceremony

The Mating Ceremony is a sacred event where two mates are formally united. The pack celebrates and offers gifts to the new couple.

mating season

Mating season usually takes place 6 months before breeding season. During this month, all eligible Werewolves in the Pack are assigned a mate. Werewolves do not get to choose their mates, the Alpha assigns them to each other. This relationship is meant to be completely monogamous and affairs are punishable by banishment.

Occasionally there will be an uneven number of Pack members and males will go unassigned. There rarely are ever females without mates, for they are the ones whom others depend on populating the Pack. It is common for male Werewolves to not have mates.

Homosexuals are often not welcome into Packs for they often refuse to reproduce with females.

mating

Mating is the action of two Werewolves coming together to breed. Also known as breeding, reproducing, procreating.

menstruation

Female Werewolves still have periods, only they are more intense than human periods. They last for one month, once a year. Like humans, female Werewolves' menstruation cycle syncs up. The ovulation cycle of the female members of the Pack determines when the breeding season occurs.

breeding season

During breeding season, all mates attempt to try for a pup. Usually, during this time, Packs remain quite isolated and tranquil. In advance, the Pack will stock up on necessary items in order to stay comfortable during this dormant time. Werewolves take breeding season very seriously. It is an intimate time for the Pack. This is not an annual thing, for not always are new members needed. Breeding season only takes place if a Pack is lacking members and needs strength in numbers.

neutering

Spaying female Werewolves and castrating male Werewolves is a controversial action inflicted by some Pack Alphas. These acts are not uncommon in some Packs - especially the exclusive Solemn Packs who are known for keeping a small population. Males who are castrated show fewer signs of aggression while it can increase aggression in females.

types of copulation

Werewolf impregnating werewolf

Copulation between Werewolves is known to be passionate and intense. Not only is there increased stamina, but Transformations often occur during intercourse. The pregnancy process for a Werewolf is different from that for a human.

The occurrences in comparison are bizarre. The duration of Werewolf pregnancy is around a month. When the baby is ready to be birthed, it will shift into its final form. Sometimes on the due date, the baby will be in Werewolf form, whereas in other cases, it will be in human form. Depending on that, the mother will have to Transform in order to successfully deliver the baby.

A woman who is in human form cannot deliver a baby who is in Werewolf form. If the mother cannot transform, there will be severe birth defects or even infantile death. It is rumored that this is the cause of Dearth babies, but that is not confirmed.

The newborn pup should be around 10.5 ounces and 9 inches long, while a newborn baby should be around 7.5 pounds.

Human impregnating werewolf

Because of the Werewolf’s complex and impenetrable bodily system, sperm from a human cannot affect the eggs of a Werewolf. The bodily system will overwhelm the human sperm and crush it, for the fertility of the human is not strong enough to merge with the fertility of the Werewolf.

Copulation between a male human and female Werewolf is simply improbable. Miscarriages typically occur in the slight chance the fetus begins to grow.

Werewolf impregnating human

Being pregnant with a Werewolf pup is an extremely painful process for a human. During the 1 month that the fetus is rapidly growing, it will frequently change forms from human to Werewolf. Things such as the claws, fang, and fur develop while in the womb. This creates an agonizing experience for the mother, for the baby is constantly clawing the inside of her uterus.

The human womb is more fragile than a Werewolf’s womb. Moreover, Werewolf pups require more of its mother's nutrients than a human baby would. With all the things that undergo while a Werewolf fetus is growing, the human's body is most likely to collapse in on itself.

Even if the mother were to endure the agony and make it to the delivery, there could still be a chance the baby is in Werewolf form. If that were to happen, the mother would have to undergo a c-section.
